Call for Artists – Women in Music Canada – EQ Studio Sessions: YUKON

Women in Music Canada and Music Yukon are thrilled invite artist applications to the EQ STUDIO SESSIONS: YUKON!
From July 7 to 12, 2025, JUNO award winning producer, singer, and artist Denise De’ion will join us in Whitehorse, YT to work with six early career women and/or gender diverse artists on preproduction, arrangements, in-studio time, and post-production. Denise will take each artist from start to finish on an original track of their own!
Eligibility:
- You’re a member of Women in Music Canada, Music Yukon, or Yukon Women in Music;
- You’re a woman and/or gender diverse songwriter/musician based in the Yukon Territory;
- You are committed to building your future in the music industry;
- You have have an original song that you’re looking to record it;
- You’re keen to get into the studio, and want to work collaboratively with and learn from an experienced producer;
- You’re available for at least one full day in-studio in Whitehorse (9am to 5:30pm), Yukon between July 7 and 12;
- You’re open to splitting co-production royalties with the producer (details to be finalized once selected).
Though priority will be given to early career artists, we encourage applications from all women and gender diverse artists.
There is no cost to artists participating, but artists may be required to pay session musicians if needed.

The deadline to apply is Friday, June 27 at NOON, Yukon Time but applications will be processed as they are received – so apply early!
Denise De’ion – Bio
Denise De’ion is a Juno Award-winning producer, singer, and songwriter based in Toronto, Canada. Known for her vibrant, genre-blending sound that fuses R&B, pop, Caribbean, and hip-hop influences, she has carved out a unique space in the
music industry.
Denise’s production work on Haviah Mighty’s Juno-winning album Stock Exchange brought her national recognition. In 2021, she was selected for the Bacardi Music Liberates Music Campaign, collaborating with Grammy-winning producer Boi-1da to release the NFT single “Juice.” Her music has been featured in commercials for Bulleit Whiskey and in television series like Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia and Kim’s Convenience.
In 2023, she released her self-produced EP Peace of My Soul, showcasing her soulful and introspective artistry. Denise is also a seasoned beat battle competitor, having won the Canadian Beatmakers League in 2020 and the iStandard Beat Battle at the 2019 ASCAP Music Expo in Los Angeles.
Beyond her music, Denise is an advocate for greater representation of women—especially women of color—in music production. Her bold, colorful style and commitment to creative independence continue to inspire a new generation of artists.
