Protective Music Spaces with Good Night Out Vancouver
RSVP HERE (Limited spots available!)
You may have heard the term “safer spaces” in relation to the music industry, but what are ‘Protective” Spaces? Protective Spaces are physical establishments, but also teams within the industry that recognize that safety requires ongoing action. Spaces and events that work to protect the people inside them – patrons, artists, and others working in music – don’t happen by accident!
Stacey Forrester from Good Night Out Vancouver will be hosting this session which will cover the basics of Protective Spaces for those in the industry, including practices for musicians, venues,  and event organizers. Join her for this interactive session and leave with tools (including bystander intervention!) you can use to create safer music experiences right away.
Note: While the focus of this workshop is prevention, this workshop does include mention of sexual violence, including definitions, as well as talk about Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault. Grounding resources will be provided. With this in mind, participants are encouraged to set themselves up for comfort during and following the workshop
