Claire Ness grew up singing Broadway show tunes, Motown melodies and outlaw country oldies while exploring the Yukon wilderness by horseback and canoe. Never far from her guitar, Claire writes prolifically in both English and French, with jazz and blues influences often wrapped into rootsy folk songs. Her catchy tunes feature poetry, storytelling, imagery and metaphor, and an abundance of humour and imagination.
Claire has released three albums (On the Trail 2017, Jackfish Girl 2014, and Hopeless Romantic 2013) and is currently working on number four - a trad jazz kids album. She has performed her music solo or with accompaniment at various events and festivals, including Folk on the Rocks, Break Out West, Alaska Folk Fest, HomeRoutes, Winterlude in Ottawa, Dawson City Music Festival, Kluane Mountain Bluegrass Festival, Atlin Arts and Music Festival, and as Leading Lady in old-time cabaret and vaudeville shows.
