Dana Jennejohn and The Bennett Sun is an all lady string-band serving up mountain to valley, northern Canadiana singer-songwriter music with a hint of the traditional south. Hailing from Whitehorse, the band has a sound described as tumbleweed pop and city folk with songs that are inspired by northern living and landscape. Working with a special core of a few Yukon musicians since 2010, The Bennett Sun’s sweet and compelling harmony rich music ranges from folk, country and roots drawing on the collaborative bluegrass tradition. Whether you catch the full band or a gentle pared down version, vocals are shared and each song they play is specially crafted to feature the band’s musicianship resulting in a full and engaging show. Dana’s song writing offers effortless melodies that quickly get the audience singing along like they have heard the tune before. The band has played most of the stages in the Yukon along with the Atlin Arts and Music Festival and Wood Stove Festival in BC, is a previous BOW showcase performer and CBC Searchlight finalist. Dana Jennejohn and The Bennett Sun released their first EP in 2015, followed latest album Chickaloon in 2018.
