Featuring: The Naysayers and Hayley Warden
Curated by: Queer Yukon
Meet the artists:
The Naysayers are an indie rock band from Whitehorse, Yukon. They blend elements of punk, pop, and alt-rock. Their music feels like a punch in the gut and a warm embrace at the same time. The project of veteran singer-songwriter Drea Nasager, The Naysayers visceral lyrics, relentless vocals, and emotional intensity, combine with rich melodies and uncompromising energy. In a sea of similarity, The Naysayers cut through. The Naysayers self titled album is available everywhere now on Coax Records. Vinyl will be available on Dec. 3, 2021.
From the South to the North, from break ups to break downs, Hayley Warden has a soulful sound with enough emotion to run a locomotive. Hayley’s musical inspiration began in the South, listening to her mother’s Motown picks and having radio stations geared from Detroit, MI and Buffalo, NY. There was no shortage of soul to be felt. Moving to the North, she practices between stand up and electric bass guitars and piano. Her vocals have been described as having a ‘Joplin flare’, backing up a lot of the pain associated with Hayley’s powerful depth. Hayley’s ‘loving all people’ attitude represents her life in the gay community, supporting and practicing the intent to have recognition for whatever choices are made, in life and love. Hayley’s constant support is felt across the community, by those gay, straight or anything in between.
Concerts will be live streamed from the Yukon Arts Centre.
