Buck Evans is one of the most authentic and outstanding songwriters today. His knowledge of music and history has allowed him to create a body of work that puts the audience back in the 1910s and 20s – in topic, music, feel and mood. Not only that – he sounds like a gramophone when he sings and talks.
Every time I perform “My Imaginary Friends” or another of Buck’s gems, the audience response (and that of the musicians I play with) has always been one of astonishment – that a composer is alive who can write like this.
