Administered through the territory’s Department of Economic Development, Yukon Media Development (formerly known as the Yukon Film and Sound Commission) exists to support and foster the Yukon’s film and sound recording industries through a series of funding programs.
For musicians and music organizations (like Music Yukon), they offer various programs for Sound Recording support, Touring support, Showcasing Support, Marketing Support and are always ready to help you with your applications and plans.
The Yukon Sound Recording Program was put in place to support the Yukon recording industry, to further develop the cultural industries sector, and to encourage a business focus among those in the Yukon music industry. This program assists Yukon sound recording professionals in developing viable careers and businesses.
-The applicant must be a Yukon resident or a Yukon business
-The applicant may be a Yukon sound recording artist, an owner of a Yukon sound recording studio, or an owner of a Yukon sound recording label
-For artist applications, for duos or groups, a minimum 50% must meet the above Yukon residency requirements.
-For studio and label applications, consideration will be given to projects involving non-Yukon artists if the project can demonstrate benefits to the development of the Yukon sound recording industry.
-Two intakes per year (May 1st & November 1st)
The purpose of the Enterprise Trade Fund is to stimulate Yukon business activity through market expansion and business development. Eligible activities include:
-Events such as trade shows, festivals, conferences, tours, markets, showcases
-Marketing, including research, analysis and materials
-Business development, including marketing plans, business plans and strategic plans
-Business skills development, including training, workshops and seminars
