A rare BC artist with a street named in his honour – Roy Forbes Drive in his hometown of Dawson Creek – Roy brings with him a great batch of original songs fifty years in the making. He also travels with an in-depth knowledge of jazz, blues, country and folk music.Roy started ‘up north’ in the sixties. As “Bim” he had his brush with stardom before becoming one of Canada’s most respected and best loved singer-songwriters. With ten solo records and a couple more with UHF companions, Shari Ulrich and Bill Henderson, Roy has left much for posterity.
In 2017 Roy Forbes became a BC Entertainment Hall of Fame inductee, in recognition of his significant contribution to the province’s entertainment industry and cultural landscape. Last year the CBC TV special "Outta Dawson” was broadcast featuring three Dawson Creek musicians who came together to pay homage to their northeastern roots. Roy, along with Opera singer Ben Heppner and soul singer Tonye performed together for the first time.
Roy is also currently in the studio recording new music, written over the past year and a half. His new tunes are a perfect complement to his existing catalogue and have already been enjoyed by his audiences at his recent performances.
As a performer he is a master of the stage, establishing an electrical connection with audiences. His show on CKUA – Roy’s Record Room- celebrates his knowledge of the music of the past. Someday someone will be collecting him as one of the best this country has produced.Tickets available online at www.klondikefollies.comor pick them up in person at the front desk of the High Country Inn (between Noon and 3 is a great time to get them)
