For your listening pleasure! Join us at the Jackalope, in the Marsh Lake Community Centre on Friday, Jan. 18th ~ 8 – 10pm, for an evening of music with Crooked Folk. Playing this time will be: BJ MacLean on guitar and vocals, Katie Avery on fiddle and vocals and Jerome McIntyre on bohdran.
Crooked Folk is a loose and ever-changing affiliation of Yukon musicians that share a passion for playing traditional Irish, Celtic and folk music. Since the group first performed in 2016, its members have included such musicians as Katie Avery, Keitha Clark, Calla Paleczny, BJ MacLean, Jerome McIntyre, Kate Weekes, Lee Covin, and Simon Crelli of Dawson City. The band’s repertoire mainly covers traditional Irish and Scottish session tunes, infused with a sprinkling of French-Canadian and other folk traditions. Most recently, the ensemble performed in the unique “Bhangra: Dance of the Punjab” concert held at the Yukon Art Centre on December 18, 2018 with Gurdeep Pandher and his high energy bhangra dance students.
