About Arts in the Park
Founded in 1996 by Dereen Hildebrand and Steve Slade, Arts in the Park celebrates visual and performing arts, and takes place every summer in downtown Whitehorse.
As we all know, the 2020 season cannot occur conventionally. This year, Arts in the Park is adapting its season by creating two new awesome partnerships with CJUC 92.5 FM – Whitehorse Community Radio and Yukon Artists @ Work to support both festival components: live performance and visual art.
Live performance
The season will be recorded and broadcast live on CJUC Whitehorse Community Radio at the historic Chamber House at Shipyards Park, with no live audience. AITP 2020 will be a socially distant festival and we are not encouraging public gatherings. The sessions will follow the guidelines as stipulated by the Yukon’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. Due to unpredictable circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and related restrictions, this program may be cancelled or modified at any time.
Visual art
YA@W will take care of the visual-art section of the festival with its amazing initiative called The Artist in the Window. View the weekly lineup here.
