Are you interested in showcasing at the Western Canadian Music Alliance’s (WCMA) Breakout West Festival and Awards Event taking place in Whitehorse on October 20th to 23rd, 2011?
If you are, the intake for applications begins on March 1st, 2011 and runs until April 15,2011.
If you are interested in applying for a showcase spot at the event it
is important that you take the MusicYukon survey which will help us
gather information that will ultimately help you prepare for the
process leading up to the application intake and in preparing for a
successful showcase spot if selected.
The selection process is done by the WCMA itself, but there are things that need to be in place for the application, and if selected there are many things you can do to prepare for the actual showcasing experience and to help it be a successful investment of your time, talent and money
MusicYukon understands there is the possibility of some money being allocated to help artists get ready to apply and prepare for the WCMA event. With the information gathered from the survey, MusicYukon can contribute to the decisions on how to best use this money for you as you prepare for this event.
Your participation in the survey is very important to the use of the
preparation money and in developing other programs that MusicYukon can offer to support you as you prepare for this and other events like this one.
BreakOut West is a multi-genre event that is open to Canadian Artists from the 4 western provinces as well as the Yukon and NWT.
There are 3 components to the event; they are
· The music festival, (submit to showcase)
· The conference (workshops and networking with national and international delegates)
· The award show. (submit your CD for jury, if it was released between January 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011)
